Everyone in school enjoyed leavers’ lunch on Wednesday 14th July. There was so much yummy food to choose from. Ice-cream and brownie finished the treat.

Year 6 children went to Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday 13th July for a celebratory, end of year treat for all their hard work through this difficult year. They played a round of bowling then finished the afternoon with a meal deal! It was a fun afternoon and everyone had a great time.

During the week beginning 28th June, children in year 5 and 6 took part in Bikeability cycle training. The training develops skills for safe and responsible cycling. The children all enjoyed it and the instructors were very impressed with the children’s sensible and mature approach to learning and impeccable behaviour.

On Wednesday 7th July, the whole school took part in a fun day. In the morning our lovely year 6 play leaders set up obstacle courses for the rest of the school to take part in. The year 6 did a brilliant job and the rest of the school thoroughly enjoyed the morning.

KS2 children took part in 3 fun filled activity days at Hawse End Centre, Portinscale. It was disappointing that we couldn’t stay as planned (the dorms looked fab) but we were able to take part in climbing, ghyll scrambling, archery, kayaking, canoe rafting and some children were lucky enough to conquer Cat Bells.

On Thursday 1st July, the whole school took part in Sports Day. It was a beautiful day, all the children had fun and enjoyed cheering on their friends. They took part in running and skipping races, the egg and spoon and relay race.

Look at how much fun we had in Class One in what seemed to be a very quick 6 weeks of school

Class 1 had the most amazing WOW week at the beginning of term, 19th to 23rd April. Everything was dinosaur themed and we had a ROAR-SOME time!

On Monday 19th April, Hrothgar The Viking raided Irthington School looking for Viking warriors. He spoke to the children in Classes 2 and 3 about the Viking way of life. He showed them weapons and shields. The ‘trainee warriors’ had a battle, resulting in a great slaughter!

The children of Class 3 enjoyed a very creative Wednesday 21st April in the sunshine. To begin the Vicious Vikings topic they built Viking long ships.

Fairtrade Fortnight was a bit different this year due to the lockdown. However, the children delighted us by entering the bake-off and recording competition in large numbers.
