During the week beginning 28th June, children in year 5 and 6 took part in Bikeability cycle training. The training develops skills for safe and responsible cycling. The children all enjoyed it and the instructors were very impressed with the children’s sensible and mature approach to learning and impeccable behaviour.
KS2 children took part in 3 fun filled activity days at Hawse End Centre, Portinscale. It was disappointing that we couldn’t stay as planned (the dorms looked fab) but we were able to take part in climbing, ghyll scrambling, archery, kayaking, canoe rafting and some children were lucky enough to conquer Cat Bells.
Look at how much fun we had in Class One in what seemed to be a very quick 6 weeks of school.
Class 1 had the most amazing WOW week at the beginning of term, 19th to 23rd April. Everything was dinosaur themed and we had a ROAR-SOME time!
On Monday 19th April, Hrothgar The Viking raided Irthington School looking for Viking warriors. He spoke to the children in Classes 2 and 3 about the Viking way of life. He showed them weapons and shields. The ‘trainee warriors’ had a battle, resulting in a great slaughter!
The children of Class 3 enjoyed a very creative Wednesday 21st April in the sunshine. To begin the Vicious Vikings topic they built Viking long ships.
