NEXT PTA MEETING

Tuesday 13th January 2026 at 6:30PM in the school hall.

Welcome to the PTA

pta logo smallThe PTA is an organisation run solely by volunteers to raise money to help the school provide materials, resources and facilities for the benefit of everyone who uses the school by running a variety of events throughout the school year.

More importantly, the activities help to bring parents together and promote good communication between parents, staff and the village while working towards a common goal.  Members are entitled to attend meetings, vote on proposals and make suggestions for spending or raising funds.

Getting Involved

volunteer The PTA Committee always welcomes and encourages new members, to ensure there is a breadth of representative opinions from all year groups and also to capitalise on the talents, skillsets and experience of our parents and staff.

Meeting new people, knowing more about what goes on at the school, having a say in how money should be allocated, and making a difference to the pupils experience at Irthington School are just some of the benefits you will gain by being involved with our PTA.

Our meetings are open to everyone, so why not come along to one and listen to the range of topics being discussed – you can contribute as much or as little as you wish and chose to get involved as much or as little as you wish. The meetings are informal and relaxed.

Dates of forthcoming meetings, as well as Minutes of previous meetings are published on the website.

If you would like any other information regarding the PTA, are interested in joining the committee or have suggestions or ideas about fund-raising, please do not hesitate to contact any of the PTA Committee or alternatively drop a note into the school office for the attention of the PTA.

We look forward to your support over the coming year.

Each year the PTA hold two Clothing Collections in collaboration with the Great North Air Ambulance when we are very fortunate to be so well supported by not only the parents and families of children who attend our school but also by those who live in and around the villages surrounding our school and also further afield. All proceeds of these collections are shared equally between the GNAA and our school.

Great North Air Ambulance Clothing Collection: 11th & 12th November 2025

Great North Air AmbulanceOur school have been supporting the Great North Air Ambulance for a number of years, regularly holding clothing collections around the local villages, which has raised money for both our school and for the Great North Air Ambulance. As a rural school, we appreciate that the Great North Air Ambulance provides a vital resource to our county, reaching areas that can be inaccessible or difficult to reach when time is of the essence.

We are very fortunate to be so well supported by families linked to our school as well as those who live in and around the villages surrounding our school and also further afield.

On Tuesday 11th & Wednesday 12th November 2025 we held our most recent Clothing collection when we raised the amazing total of £340 for our school and the Great North Air Ambulance.

Thank you as always to everyone involved, including: the PTA for delivering bags out into the local community and for collecting the filled bags up again; and to everyone who donated bags of clothing towards the collection. Going forward the collections will most likely take place during the week and any assistance from parents and families in delivering bags or collecting them back in would be gratefully received.

Our next collection will take place in April 2026. More information will be provided in the Spring Term.
