NEXT PTA MEETING

Friday 19th April 2024 at 9am in the school hall.

Welcome to the PTA

pta logo smallThe PTA is an organisation run solely by volunteers to raise money to help the school provide materials, resources and facilities for the benefit of everyone who uses the school by running a variety of events throughout the school year.

More importantly, the activities help to bring parents together and promote good communication between parents, staff and the village while working towards a common goal.  Members are entitled to attend meetings, vote on proposals and make suggestions for spending or raising funds.

Getting Involved

volunteer The PTA Committee always welcomes and encourages new members, to ensure there is a breadth of representative opinions from all year groups and also to capitalise on the talents, skillsets and experience of our parents and staff.

Meeting new people, knowing more about what goes on at the school, having a say in how money should be allocated, and making a difference to the pupils experience at Irthington School are just some of the benefits you will gain by being involved with our PTA.

Our meetings are open to everyone, so why not come along to one and listen to the range of topics being discussed – you can contribute as much or as little as you wish and chose to get involved as much or as little as you wish. The meetings are informal and relaxed.

Dates of forthcoming meetings, as well as Minutes of previous meetings are published on the website.

If you would like any other information regarding the PTA, are interested in joining the committee or have suggestions or ideas about fund-raising, please do not hesitate to contact any of the PTA Committee or alternatively drop a note into the school office for the attention of the PTA.

We look forward to your support over the coming year.

Each year the PTA hold two Clothing Collections in collaboration with the Great North Air Ambulance when we are very fortunate to be so well supported by not only the parents and families of children who attend our school but also by those who live in and around the villages surrounding our school and also further afield. All proceeds of these collections are shared equally between the GNAA and our school.

Great North Air Ambulance Clothing Collection: Sunday 10th & Monday 11th November 2024

Great North Air AmbulanceThank you to everyone who contributed in any way towards our recent Clothing Collection by distributing bags, collecting them back in or donating filled bags of clothing. Thank you also to the year 6 pupils who helped load the van up on the Monday morning. The van was almost full when the doors were closed.

With your help we raised a fabulous £207.20 for school and for the Great North Air Ambulance.

Well done everyone!!

Our next collection will take place on Sunday 27th April 2025 (Doorstep collection around the local villages: Irthington, Newtown, Newby East, Laversdale and Old Wall) and Monday 28th April 2025 (Schoolyard collection).

Bags will be sent home with the pupils before the Easter break and distributed around the local area during the Easter break (from Saturday 5th April – Monday 21st April 2025).

Extra bags are available from the school office if needed although items are accepted in non-Air Ambulance bags.

Acceptable items are: clothing in good condition, pairs of shoes, bags, belts, hats.

Also unwanted mobile phones and used ink cartridges from domestic printers.

Please do not include any bedding or bric-a-brac as this is not accepted by the Great North Air Ambulance.
